I don't know what it is about the summer season, but I always crave new and exciting books! Summer is always the time I have to get lost in a good book and find new adventures. I love it.
I think it has something to do with wanting to be out enjoying the beautiful weather... reading by the pool... reading in my cozy patio chair... reading while stretched out on a picnic under a beautiful tree.
So, in anticipation for summer I have been making an on-going list of books that I would love to get lost in this season. As always, I warmly welcome any and all suggestions to add to my list! Here is my list, to name a few...
1) The Last Lecture
- Randy Pausch
2) The Happiness Project
- Gretchen Rubin
3) The Carrie Diaries
- Candace Bushnell
4) Lunch in Paris
- Elizabeth Band
5) The Boy Who Couldn't Sleep and Never Had To
- DC Pierson
6) The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
- Rebecca Skloot
7) Searching for Tina Turner
- Jacqueline Luckett
8) The Forty Rules of Love
- Elif Shafak
9) The Secret Life of Emily Dickinson
- Jerome Charyn
10) Girl in Translation
- Jean Kwok
So tell me... what's on your summer reading to do list?
Great Post Idea! I may have to borrow it!!! ;) If you looked on my nightstand, you would find your 1, 2 and 3 books ready for the reading. In addition, I'm putting the finishing touches on Eat Pray Love and John Lennon: The Life. Have about 10 other ones to read, though (never enough hours in the day!) Love your list!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I love a good summer reading list. I still have a few books I received over the holidays I have not cracked open yet! tisk tisk!

Carrie Diaries is also on my list! So is the new Lauren Weisburger book, the newly released Sookie Stackhouse book and a few others. I am with Leanne, I must borrow this post idea from you lady, I hope you don't mind!
ReplyDeleteI love book recommendations. Thanks! I'm currently reading Julia Child's My Life is France, which is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteVery good list, although I must admit I've only heard of the Carrie Diaries one! {I'm so out of touch over here!} Right now, I'm reading "The Swan Thieves" by Elizabeth Kostova. Her first book, "The Historian", was a bit creepy, but I couldn't put it down! This one might prove to be the same! Eee!
ReplyDeleteJulia Child's "My Life In France"...is that the book that "Julie & Julia" was based on? If so, I'm adding it to my reading list for sure!
♥ your posts, girl! I need to be a better blogger like you!
I have heard good things about "The Swan Thieves"! Adding it to my list... NOW!
ReplyDeleteI really want to read "My Life in France". That one is actually letters and journals that Julia Child wrote. I read "Julie & Julia" by Julie Powell which is what the film was based on - it's a riot! A lot different *ahem* language and situations than shown in the movie - haha!
Still a great read... makes me want to cook more! I love it!
Oh hunny, you are a fantastic blogger - I always look fwd to new posts from you! You're too cute! :) Hope all is lovely over there!
How did you determine your list? While Lunch in Paris seems interesting Girl in Translation has captured my attention. Will get it as soon as I finish Three Cups of Tea. Thanks for the tips.
