As always, Summer was running 15 minutes behind schedule. Her to do list for that Tuesday morning was so long that she didn't think she'd ever see the bottom.
Although she was pleasantly surprised that she pulled together a decently coordinated outfit and had time to curl her long mocha colored hair, she was absolutely in a funk. There was only one thing that could cure her... Mourt's Coffee.
She power walked the 3 blocks to the little hole-in-the-wall cafe and was greeted by a line that was almost out the door. While waiting she pulled out her BlackBerry and began tinkering away in order to make the line appear to move faster.
Finally, she was only 3 spots away from the counter. All the while she was catching up on her phone she was completely unaware that the handsome man in front of her kept stealing little looks and couldn't help but smile at her.
At last it was her turn to order her "usual" venti soy latte. Once the drink was order she went to pull out her little yellow change purse only to be interrupted by the barrista.
"Oh no ma'am, you don't have to worry about it. The man in front of you already paid for your coffee."
Summer was absolutely confused. As she shot the barrista a puzzled look, he just pointed toward the cafe door. As Summer twirled around she saw a tall man with a scruffy face and chocolate colored eyes smiling at her. He held up his coffee as to say, "Here's to you. You are stunning and I couldn't help myself."

Luvs!
Summer was a mix of confused, flattered, and still rushed. She would have loved to stay and chat up Mr. Mc-Coffee but the morning was ticking away. She paused at the door and said "I don't know what I did to deserve your kindness today but I can't stay, duty calls." That's when he grabs her Blackberry, types frantically and says "call me" with a wink....

..before holding the door open for her and walking away in the opposite direction. She paused to look down at her phone; he had typed his number and name, Tony. As Summer hurried off to work she wondered if Tony was her type and what to do next. She was daydreaming about her possible new love interest when...

She felt the toe of her shoe catch on something, both her phone and her latte went flying out of her hands as she attempted to catch herself.

The latte splattered on the handsome stranger who was in front of her as he went to help catch her. He felt her Blackberry hit him in the back and as he turned around realized she was falling. The latte splashed all over his white shirt. He couldn't help but think well sh*t but he did manage to help her from falling face first into the sidewalk. As he caught her gaze he couldn't help but think....

ReplyDelete(... he couldn't help but think...) how beautiful this girl is. However, something looked wrong. She seemed very troubled, he thought. "I'm so sorry about that," Summer told the man. "I'm in a hurry today and have so much to do."
"I can help you," replied the handsome man. "My name is Colin. Where are you off to now?"
"Well," Summer began. "I'm going...."

ReplyDelete"I told you I could help out," stated the mysterious Colin. "My limo is right out front. Why don't you let me give you a ride?"
Summer's mind began to race as she weighed the pros and cons.
"Well," Summer began...

...Summer wasn't prone to accepting rides from strangers, but with the way her day was going she really could use the help. And besides, for some reason, it just felt right taking a chance on this particular stranger. She followed the mysterious Colin to the car and was just getting ready to step inside when she heard someone yell her name...
