Honeymoon: Hello Antigua!

In case you were wondering... yes, I am definitely counting down the days until we get to enjoy our little post-wedding vacay! **cough cough 136 cough cough**

When we first discussed honeymoon ideas, we easily came to agree on the fact that we both wanted it to feel very local instead of commercial, and much more laid back/secluded than a popular hopping spot.

Don't get me wrong, we looked at tons of well-established couple resorts and they looked like an absolute blast! But at the end of the day we just wanted to feel like the only ones around and enjoy the tranquility of relaxing together without a care in the world.

So after doing tons of research and consulting our lovely travel agent, we decided on staying at the Galley Bay Resort & Spa in Antigua.

It has been ranked one of the top most romantic honeymoon resorts in the Caribbean. The resort sits on 40 acres of private lush gardens, houses a tropical bird sanctuary, and boasts a mile long stretch of white sand beach.

The layout off the resort is what appealed most to us. It has a hidden design which offers a more secluded getaway. We opted to book our stay in one of the Tahitian-inspired Gauguin Cottages. The cottage has two thatched connected rondovals, and a private splash pool and sun deck for us to enjoy.

The spa area looks absolutely blissful! I think it would be so amazing to get a massage in one of their treehouses and then lay around by the pool!

We've read nothing but great things about this place! From their gourmet food and endless tropical drinks, the native island music in the evenings, to the gorgeous lush grounds that keep the resort feeling like a little tropical hideaway!

I was excited to find out they have lots of fun beach activities like snorkeling, kayaking, sail boating, and biking. Although I can see us lounging and reading in beach chairs, any of these would be a fun little afternoon activity.

And just in case we are feeling extra adventurous we can hop off the resort to try out a rainforest canopy zipline, a sunset cruise, island eco tour, shop or sightsee!

Is it March 10th yet?

We literally joke about eloping all the time just so we can get to Antigua faster. Can you tell we're super excited to be adventuring on our first big trip together?

Yup. Bring it on, marriage!
